Search Relevance Engineer (m/f/d)
Location:
El Prat de Llobregat / Barcelona (Hybrid – 4 days remote per week)

E-commerce / Search Engineering

We are looking for a Search Relevance Engineer to join our international E-commerce team. The role focuses on continuously improving the search experience across our digital platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage search relevance configurations and parameters in an Apache Solr-based engine.
  • Define and maintain data processing rules within ETL workflows.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, data analysts, and search managers from various countries to translate business requirements into technical configurations.
  • Work closely with data scientists, backend engineers, and product managers to optimize relevance models, filters, mappings, and product listings.
  • Participate in discovery sessions and architectural discussions with the technical team.
  • Create and interpret technical and functional documentation, and transfer knowledge to operational units across different countries.

Profile:

  • Interest and willingness to learn about Apache Solr and its inner workings.
  • Motivation to learn or prior knowledge of search algorithms, ETL processes, and relevance optimization (e.g., precision, recall, nDCG).
  • Previous experience in first or second-level technical support is a plus.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly understand complex tasks.
  • Reliable, motivated, with strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and an innovative approach.
