The Role

Reporting to the Legal Director – EMEA, the Legal Counsel – EMEA will support the UK, Spanish, and broader EMEA commercial, supply chain, and corporate teams. This role is responsible for managing legal risks across these regions by providing legal advice, negotiating contracts, interpreting legislation, developing policies, delivering training, assisting with dispute resolution, and managing external counsel. The Legal Counsel – EMEA will also collaborate with the Global Legal Team as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and review all types of contracts across the full scope of EMEA commercial and supply chain activities, including but not limited to:

  • Sales of goods agreements
  • Purchase of goods and services agreements
  • Bulk wine purchase agreements
  • Grape and wine supply agreements
  • Service agreements
  • Marketing agreements
  • Distribution agreements
  • Sponsorship agreements
  • Other key commercial agreements

  • Monitor administrative and judicial requirements and ensure compliance with legal deadlines.
  • Provide legal advice and support to other areas of the company, particularly on food regulations, wine legislation, labelling, Designations of Origin, sustainability, and environmental matters.
  • Advise the EMEA marketing team on legal issues and risks associated with marketing campaigns and new product development.
  • Support ad‑hoc company projects requiring legal input.
  • Report any potentially irregular conduct to the Legal Director – EMEA.
  • Assist with drafting company policies and creating legal resources.
  • Prepare and deliver employee training sessions on legal issues and group policies.
  • Research and report on current regulations or legislative developments impacting the business, ensuring awareness of critical regulatory changes.
  • Support the coordination and implementation of legislative updates across the business by liaising with responsible teams or updating departmental documents.
  • Assist the Legal Director – EMEA in ensuring compliance with data protection obligations under relevant UK and EMEA legislation.
  • Support ongoing or potential disputes within the EMEA region.
  • Provide assistance on HR-related matters, including drafting employment contracts, conducting internal investigations, supporting policy development, and advising on employee exits.
  • Act as a point of contact for external counsel when required.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.

Requirements Essential:

  • Qualified lawyer.
  • C1 level of English.
  • 4–8 years of Post-Qualified Experience.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in commercial law.
  • Ability to work on matters across multiple European legal jurisdictions.
Preferred

  • Dual qualification in Spanish and English law.
  • Experience in the FMCG industry.
Experience in the drinks or beverage industry
